It’s 2018

 

I’m working my office job — Prepping folders to be scanned, RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 11 playing quietly on my phone as I file away.

The Monster Ball episode airs. Nina West struts out in her “Witch, Please” look — a black and white Pilgrim-style dress, with flames rising up the skirt. She’s a burning Salem witch.

And I freeze. Because just last year… I had spent deep, intentional time healing my Salem life trauma. Rewriting what I could. Owning my remorse. Finding peace with what I had done and what was done to me.

I switch over to YouTube. “All Time Scary” — Mandela Effects. The voice calmly says: “Salem witches were never burned.”

And I stop dead in my tracks. My eldest had just learned about Salem in school — fifth grade curriculum. I remember what he was taught. But now? I’m doubting everything.

I run straight to Google: How many people died in Salem? How did they die?

And I realize… None of them were burned. The reality hits me. By healing my Salem timeline… I rewrote history.

I start to panic. I call my sister — she teaches 4th grade. She say she doesn’t teach Salem. Her timeline is different than mine.

My stomach sinks.

I call my mom. I listen to her brain fold in on itself as she searches her memory, as I ask her how many died:“ A couple thousand? A few hundred? Maybe 20 or so??”

I text friends. Every single one remembers what I do: Burnings. Drownings. Hangings. Stonings. Not just in Europe — Salem too.

My kid remembers. Vividly.

And I realize something huge: The people who remember it the way I do — were there with me. In that life. They remember because they’re meant to heal more. And they can.

So we get to work. Fired up. On mission.

Then fear creeps in — Hollywood always warns: "You must NEVER rewrite time…"

But I quickly discover: Not only can we, We should. Because healing doesn’t repeat the past. It frees us from it.

All Time is happening now. And we are so much more than we’ve ever been told.
